The Team

Our service crew Jim, Gordon, Matt, James, and Chris are what makes our Team Successfull.

the team

Jim, Gordon, Matt, James, Chris

Gordon Guest

Gordon (Chief Mechanic) brings a wealth of experience to the Team. His knowledge and understanding of the various technical regulations and his utter determination to get the car to the finish places him uniquely to organise and manage the preparation of the car for race day and plan the service and maintenance schedule required for such a highly tuned car. When Gordon is not working on the car he is the Director of both a building and scaffolding company. Gordon is also Shelly's Fiance of 26 years!!!

Matt McCabe

Matt has been with the 'Shelly Taunt' rallying team for some years now. He is a keen enthusiast and very hard working. Matt is an all rounder and takes great pride in the appearance of the rally car. He takes charge of the dirtier side of rallying (literally). The car has to be immaculate at all times, before it goes to scrutineering and even in between stages when he has the chance to get a sponge on it. When Matt is not rallying he is a Construction Manager for a very large construction company. Matt lives with wife Becks and has two children.

James Murphy

James, (Race Mechanic), is 25 years old and has been with the team for about 8 years now. Getting stuck in and working under pressure is what rallying is all about for James, as well as the usual banter between fellow team mates! He also enjoys map reading and running the chase vehicle with Gordon. James has a keen interest in cars and motorcycles in general. Spending most his time and money tinkering, playing and cleaning them!

Luke Perry

Luke (Race Mechanic) is just 19 and is new to the team for 2012. Luke has a huge interest in cars and is working for Renault as an apprentice.

Jim Griffiths

Jim runs his own body repair workshop in Swindon. He loves spending his spare time working on the car and caught the rallying bug when he joined the team in 2006

Chris Hedges

Chris was involved in International Truck Racing for many years but he gave it up once he had a family. Chris has two children Scott & Zoe. He now works for a large DIY Company and has been with us for 10 years. Chris is the laid back one of the team. (In fact if he was anymore laid back, he'd fall over)..
